Yeap. I luv to use body language or normal hand gestures to express myself. Easier for me to talk that way. :D You're right, only the ones who make mistakes, make it to the top ;)

Thanks for the tip.

I hope the 16 year olds' comments didn't keep you from practising body language :D I have a lot of experience coaching engineering professionals and university students in various engineering design software, and I've experimented with a lot of teaching/presentation techniques. I felt that students looked a lot more attentive if I used body language more than just plain boring words. A very experienced entrepreneur said in a seminar I attented not so long ago that when people walk out of the presentation/conference hall, a large part of their memory of the event is comprised of how the presenter presented himself. So using clever body language you can leave a lasting impression on people's minds.

So keep practising! Only the ones who make mistakes make it to the top ;)

Just don't over-express yourself with the body/hand language. Keep everything to moderate level. ;)

p/s... i started using body language during presentation at the age of 16...and my classmates laughed at me because they thought i looked like an idiot (i was the only 1 doing that). LOL.

Very important points you raised here Alvin. Conversation is an art, and those who have mastered this fine art don't have any troubles with persuading people.

Nobody's perfect, so I think it's best to honestly let the other person know about your weakness through clever body language. For example, moving your hands in a circle and rolling your eyes around to show that you're trying to get something out of your head when you can't keep a conversation going. At least it's far better than just sitting there infront of him/her doing nothing! :D

Yeap, the IM and SMS are taking over the world... :) but nothing beats an honest face-to-face conversation.

To Dres, check out http://www.problogger.net , you might find something useful there in regards to blog writing's best practices.

Hope it helps.

p/s... Malaysia is currently suffering from very slow internet speed...thus I couldn't check it out for you.

Cool!

Great tips. I noticed that most ppl who do chat online r interesting ppl but when it comes to face-to-face, they tend to be very shy.

This is great for everyone. The IM phenonmenon is making ppl hide behind avatars and type-written text. The best way to connect with some1 is still face-to-face.

Congrats on being Blog-Of-The-Minute!! :)

Congrats on being the Blog of the Minute! These are great tips for one on one conversation and extremely helpful. Does anyone know if there's a post that talks about rules for having a good conversation online (in particular on a blog)?

Great job!
